Thirty-one
artists submitted 54 paintings which were beautifully displayed by the
Lewistown Art Center. Workshop Instructor Elise Beattie and MTWS
President Margo Voermans juried the awards for the show.

"The artist has given the composition of a traditional landscape
a new look via the use of warm beautiful hues that create a unique
moodiness. The artist has also incorporated a splendid use of hard
and soft edges which create inventive textural effects and lovely fluid
washes."

"The artist handling of values make this piece a strong and bold
work that successfully catches the viewer's eye."

'Where Did My Youth Go?'
"The artist established a strong composition with a good handling
of space. The work has a good use of color which carries the
viewer's eye through space via using an arrangement of warm to cool
hues."

"It is a simple stunning landscape that incorporates a solid
compositional design. There is a beautiful use of both wet in wet
washes and dry brush techniques. The pleasant use of color has
helped to create a peaceful mood."

"Barn Painter"
"This figurative work incorporates a bold use of color that has
created a sunny feel good mood. The artist has created a strong
composition via the use of the bold horizontal barn stripes juxtaposed
to the vertical pose of the painter. The artist's loose painterly
technique has created a successful shape driven composition."
