Havre artist, Vicky L. Campbell, was born in Miles City, and traveled extensively before settling in Havre with her husband, Duane, and their five children. She earned her Degree in Fine Art from Montana State University-Northern, and she continues to learn through numerous workshops.  She teaches classes and private lessons, to children and adults, in pen and ink, drawing, and watercolor.

Vicky feels that art is a language unto itself.  It is all about communication. She hopes that her work radiates the passion she feels for her subjects—toward the viewer. That’s pure emotion. She feels that art is a spiritual experience—you have to go inside yourself and paint what’s in your heart.  By painting what you know and love, your true passion will shine through.  She chooses her subjects for the emotional memories they provoke, so they have the ability to communicate with passion.

By experimenting, she grows, therefore her originality is enhanced. When she works honestly and follows the flow of her own creative nature, her artistic personality surfaces. Vicky doesn’t want to repeat herself for the rest of her lifetime; she wants to evolve and challenge herself. The willingness to experiment is a natural offshoot of her healthy attitude, which is key to growth. This is the path Vicky chooses to follow—of being herself—of not doing what others expect.
