Barbara Kuxhausen
Artist and Teacher

Barbara (Bobbie) Kuxhausen grew up in the Chicago area, but the mountains and open spaces of the west attracted her to Wyoming where she earned a B.A. and M.A. in art. She married a Wyoming native, raised a son, and taught elementary art for 28 years before retiring. She now spends more time with her horses and dog, golfing and traveling.

Artist Statement:
Watercolor has always been a favorite challenge.
I enjoy the fluidity, the adventure and the surprise it offers. I paint a variety of subjects attempting not to duplicate nature, but to reflect my feelings about its harmony, vitality and mood. Simplifying shapes, textures and colors is my method of capturing the essence of the scene. A watercolor painting is like a short story.

Get in, do it, get out!
