A Tribute to our Founders

Twenty years ago, three friends from Missoula got together over lunch, and The Montana Watercolor Society was conceived. It wasn’t a new idea for Margaret Mudd, Marjorie Harper, and Lee Morrison. People had been discussing it for a long time. It was long overdue, and the time had finally come for Montana to have its own watercolor society.

These have been twenty exciting years for MTWS.  Our membership continues to reflect an enthusiastic attitude toward watercolor painting.

Each year, members are encouraged to participate in our Annual Open Member’s Show and Watermedia Exhibition, by sending in their best paintings. Our members look forward to these annual events for the opportunity to gather with other artists for the workshops, receptions, and exhibitions.

It is indeed a privilege to be involved with MTWS,  where the Board of Directors has worked toward shaping the society in the direction of the needs of our members. We have always invited ideas and suggestions.  All our members sincerely appreciate the hard work and genuine effort shown by our founders who, filled with energy and vitality, formed an organization that encourages the advancement of watercolor in Montana . They worked with some great people to help mold the future of MTWS.

Thank you to our founders, Margaret, Marjorie, and Lee, for their unselfish gift of time, hard work, organizational skills, and the amazing dedicated vision to guide our society. They are great gifts to MTWS.

It is for love of watercolor that most of us joined MTWS, and we enjoy sharing, learning, growing, and bonding each time we meet.

Happy 20th Anniversary!
