Juror of Selection and Awards

Jan L. Hart

As an accomplished artist and teacher, Jan Hart communicates her profound passion and insight about the landscape and living things found in northern New Mexico . Color, light and shadows are integral to Jan’s paintings and her 30 year teaching experience. In the past few years her focus has turned also to writing.

Jan grew up in the chaparral areas of Southern California with a love for nature and the out of doors. Her education background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology and a Master of Arts degree in Architecture. While she resided in the Pacific Northwest , she taught design, drawing and watercolor privately, at the University of Washington and at Cornish College of the Arts.

"My passion is teaching watercolor. I teach what intrigues me and am fortunate to always have students who want to learn. For me, the most exciting aspect of life is to share my enthusiasm while watching and guiding my students' progress through this challenging medium. I love it!"

Jan is currently working on a book derived from her teaching experience dedicated specifically to her many many students.
