Francese Artist Statement
My passion for painting
comes from many things: the hustle and bustle of modern city life; lush forests
and tropical beaches; mountains, and the many moods of nature - blowing snow,
driving rain, stormy skies, pounding surf.
The best way for me to
learn something new is by stretching my knowledge of painting.
By doing so, I push myself out of my comfort zone and into a place that
– I have to admit – can be very unsettling.
I would rather take a chance on painting something which might not work
out, but which at the same time allows me to try a different approach or learn a
new method to use in future paintings.
The most important thing to
remember is that a painting is a journey, and the painting you struggle with
today is but a tiny fraction of the sum of all your paintings – and a small
step in your journey to artistic freedom and expression.
