Jessica Glenn Artist Statement Jessica grew up drawing and painting in northwestern Pennsylvania and earned her B.F.A. from Kendall College of Art & Design in MI. Watercolor has been her medium of choice, ever since she was exposed to it by a few talented professors. Soon after college, she packed everything she could fit in her little car and headed for the big skies and mountains of Montana, where she is still happily settled and passionately paints from her home studio. The intention of her subject matter--namely antiquated structures, Western cultural objects, and angular forms in nature--is to tell a subtle story, to inspire a closer look, and a moment of private study and appreciation for thoughtfully crafted areas of character and definition. Jessica is a signature member of the Montana Watercolor Society. She exhibits her award-winning work frequently in shows at the Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell, MT and other National juried shows. She is represented by Whitefish Pottery /Stillwater Gallery in Whitefish, MT, Persimmon Gallery in Bigfork, MT, Artists on Main in Ennis, MT, and Tendoy Fine Art in Dillon, MT. jessicaglennart.com Facebook: Jessica Glenn Art
Roberta J Burruss Artist Statement Luminous skies and mountain peaks inspire me to paint. Watercolors fluid transparency lets me explore and build the deep relationship of sky and land on paper.
Born and raised in Montana, I feel the land its-self has called me to be an artist, massive beauty is everywhere. In 2006, when I was awarded Signature Membership with the Montana Watercolor Society, I felt a type of validation for the choice I made to paint seriously.
Being a self-taught watercolorist, I find plein-air painting of key importance. I fill notebooks with simple watercolor sketches, painted with great freedom and joy as I connect painting with my sense place. This time outside, teaches me to see more then there is. I also value the variety of workshop instructors MTWS brings in every year to study with, it's amazing what I learn by trying something different.
I look forward to this year’s Western Art Week, it is exciting to be part of this celebration of Art! www.robertajburruss.com
