I am a fourth generation Montanan (and Great Falls native) with a degree in Graphic Design from MSU.  However, my work for many years has been done in transparent watercolor.  I am always seduced by the mystery of it, the delicate balance of freedom and control, the luminous washes and layers of color.  The subjects and materials I choose are usually traditional in nature and application.  These days I am primarily interested in urban landscapes and the figure, but finding beauty in unexpected places (a junkyard, for instance) offers many exciting possibilities as well.  As always, I hope the viewer will take away a new appreciation of the world around them after viewing the work.

For many years I have been on the art faculty at Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell and I also teach private classes and occasional painting workshops here and abroad.  My work can be found in the collections of Beringer Wineries, ConAgra Industries, Smithsonian Institution and The White House to name a few.

Having no formal training in art it thus has multiple degrees of challenges for the nonprofessional.

I accept and love those challenges because each endeavor when completed successfully instills a great deal of satisfaction and desire to move on.

Late 1970’s-Late 1990’s = Black and White Photography
