Carol McSweeney – Artist Statement
Carol McSweeney is a watercolor artist residing in Kalispell, Montana and Scottsdale, Arizona. Her work is primarily figurative and includes portrayals of animals and birds as well. She has created series of paintings to interpret the lives of those who live in the West…working men and women, cowboys and First People, children and their families….with the hope of connecting the viewer to the spirit that defines us as individuals, while uniting us as human beings. She is a Signature Member of the American Watercolor Society, the Arizona Watercolor Association, the San Diego Watercolor Society, the Montana Watercolor Society, the Northwest Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, the Louisiana Watercolor Society and the Missouri Watercolor Society. Recent awards include: First Place and Best of Show in Qingdao, China for the Missouri International Watercolor Exhibition, as well as First Place and Best of Show for the Arizona Watercolor Association. Publications and media acknowledgment include the cover image and feature article in Watercolor Magazine, use of cover image and magazine in the Jumanji 2 movie, Readers Competition Award in the Art of Watercolour Magazine, and Media Award and use of painting image for show catalog and brochures in the Western Federation of Watercolor Society Exhibition.
