Jim Howard---Instructor
About the Artist
It is his deep appreciation for the beauty of nature around us that is reflected in the artwork of Jim Howard. Whether it is the cascading waters of a mountain river, or the quiet beauty of the deep forest, Jim enjoys portraying in his art the wonders of God’s creation. Jim grew up in the east, spent part of his childhood summers fishing and hiking in the mountains of New England.
He has served as pastor of churches in Minnesota, Wyoming and Montana, all the while continuing his pursuit of art, and using it in conjunction with his ministry.
He began drawing at a very early age. After receiving formal art training at the American academy of Art in Chicago, Jim worked as a freelance artist, doing advertising layout and design, and illustrating books for various publishing houses. He is a signature member of the Montana Watercolor Society. Jim works in watercolor, pencil, and pen and ink. He has taught classes in drawing and watercolor through community education programs.
Jim and his wife, Joyce, have four grown children. They make their home in Bozeman, Montana.
